Back in February, MC&T shared a report with our readers about Whipple’s new Gen 5 Supercharger for the Dodge Hellcat lineup. This beefy 3.0L blower promised to bring massive gains for customers looking to get more performance from the 6.2L supercharged V8 engine, with Whipple claiming boosts of upwards of 500 horsepower with their kit alone. We are excited to announce that the Whipple Gen 5 Supercharger is now being offered for 2011-2021 5.7L Hemi and 6.4L Hemi equipped vehicles! Here is what you need to know about this blower kit and the performance it brings to the table.

In the world of superchargers, few brands are as experienced or well-respected as Whipple. The company has been cranking out forced-induction kits for over three decades now, and brings all of that know-how to this latest Gen 5 Supercharger offering. This 3.0L unit features an all-new housing, bearings, gears, and rotors compared to the Gen 3 and Gen 4 models, and is the first Whipple to feature a 3×4 billet rotor combination. The kit also includes the company’s new patent-pending dual-pass, dual-intercooler technology, which they say provides double the cooling capacity of their outgoing models. This helps keep charge temperatures low, while also improving efficiency. This technology is the same as what Dodge uses in their factory-backed Drag Pak racers, and has been proven on the drag strip. This Whipple Gen 5 Supercharger reportedly provides more power than any other positive displacement supercharger on the market.

The Whipple Gen 5 Supercharger is now being offered on Dodge Charger, Dodge Challenger, and Chrysler 300 models with either the 5.7L Hemi or the 6.4L Hemi V8 engines from 2011 and up. If trucks are more your thing, the blower is also available for the Jeep Grand Cherokee with the 6.4L Hemi from 2012-2020.  Dodge Durango models from 2011+ with the 5.7L are also covered, as is the larger displacement engine from 2018+. The kit costs $8,100 regardless of which application you need, and includes high flow fuel injectors, billet fuel rails, an oversized heat exchanger, a high flow intercooler pump, and all of the wiring and piping you’ll need to install the supercharger. Locked PCM’s are taken care of by HP Tuners, and the unlock code is included in your purchase.

Whipple Superchargers is currently working to expand this blower package to fit other Hemi V8 engines, including the 6.1L motor that was used between 2006-2010. Regardless of what FCA muscle car you have in your garage, the Gen 5 Supercharger appears to be the big answer for aftermarket performance gains.
