According to Chevrolet, the perfect pickup truck is exactly what each buyer wants. That may sound a little crazy, but it’s actually quite simple, the best truck for you is the one that accentuates your personality. Which is why Chevrolet has decided to bring back the popular Silverado 1500 Midnight Edition for the 2020 model year. The reveal happened during the 2019 State Fair of Texas this week.
The Silverado Midnight Edition will be available on the LT Trail Boss and Custom Trail Boss trims. The special trim level will include a 2-inch factory suspension lift and the Z71 Off-Road Package which adds Rancho mono-tube off-road dampers, an automatic locking rear differential, skid plates, black 18-inch wheels, along with Goodyear off-road rubber.

The Midnight Edition accentuates the Silverado Trail Boss’ look with black Silverado badging, a black grille, black Bowties, black bumpers, black exhaust tips, and black off-road assist steps. But just in case you get it hung up on the fence there are contrasting red recovery hooks. Chevy says the Custom Trail Boss Midnight Edition is available with either the company’s 5.3L V8 engine hooked to a six-speed auto or the 6.2L V8 engine paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission for those who like to shoot from the hip. Jump up to the LT Trail Boss Silverado 1500 Midnight Edition and the 6.2 is your only powertrain option, but you do get High-Intensity LED headlamps with dark bezels. Yew.
However, the Silverado Trail Boss is not exactly a Ford F-150 Raptor rival. For something closer to that, customers are going to have to wait for the upcoming Silverado ZRX pickup truck, which will arrive by the 2022 model year, along with a refreshed interior.
The new 2020 Silverado 1500 Midnight Edition will be available for order next month and should arrive at dealerships sometime before Thanksgiving. Chevrolet is currently mum on the official price, but the package was previously offered on previous-generation Silverado pickup trucks for $1,595 to $1,995, depending on the trim level.
