SEMA SHOW: CHEVROLET SILVERADO HD Z71 SPORT CONCEPT IS ADVENTURE-READY

The 2020 Silverado HD Concept Pickup Truck Is Chevy’s Answer To Overlanding

Chevrolet has rolled up to the 2019 SEMA Show in full force this year, with a number of muscle cars and pickup trucks (both ICE and electric) to unveil. While everyone loves to gawk at the eye-wateringly expensive builds, SEMA is also a place where manufacturers debut special edition models. Chevrolet has already announced the Silverado HD Carhartt Special Edition, and now we have a peek at the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD Z71 Sport Concept.

Chevrolet still hasn’t really put a whole lot of information about this concept out at this time, but we’ll try and decipher what they’ve said so far. According to Chevrolet, the concept is all about personalization, which is quite different from the Carhartt Edition Silverado HD that is also set to appear on the show floor. Despite the Silverado HD Z71 Sport Concept supposedly offering more options that its Michigan-branded stablemate, the two trucks appear to be closely related.

Chevrolet confirmed that the Carhartt Edition package for the Silverado 2500 HD will be exclusively offered on LTZ crew cab variants. While this has not been stated as true for the Z71 Sport Concept, Chevrolet does say in their press release that “the front end is highlighted with an LTZ and up-level headlamps for a bold presence.” While we aren’t entirely sure what Chevy is getting at with that sentence, chances are they are referring to the LTZ as the base trim for the package.

Utilizing the same base model for the special editions makes sense from a production stand-point, especially when you consider that both special editions are equipped with the Z71 off-road package. In order to turn the Silverado into a competent off-roader, the truck is fitted with off-road suspension featuring tuned twin-tube Rancho shocks, skid plates for the oil pan and transfer case and Hill Descent Control. Other Z71 package touches include a spray-in bedliner, Z71 badging and a Z71 fender badge replacing the 4×4 decal on the bed.

The 2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD Z71 Sport Concept also features blacked out hood vents, mirror caps and bowtie logos. Other available accessories will include a ram air hood with a Gloss Black scoop and Sport Step assist steps in finished in black.

While it’s not as complete looking of a build as, say, the Ram 1500 Rebel OTG Concept pickup truck, we can at least appreciate the effort.

Stay tuned as more information becomes available about the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado HD Z71 Sport Concept SEMA truck, as well as a live photo gallery.
