Even though the 2021 Ford Bronco Sport hasn’t been officially unveiled like it was supposed to this spring, we know just about everything there is to know about it. Essentially, it will be a more rugged, off-road offering to a sea of blasé crossovers. Recent leaks and rumors from broncosportforum have now given us more details that show the Bronco Sport will stand out from the crowd.
Rumors suggest the Ford Bronco Sport will be available with three different grille configurations: modern, classic and custom. According to Broncosportforum, the modern grille is what appears in the leaked images most people have seen by now. The classic grille will include retro touches, and the custom will have a more, “shiny and upscale look.” Whatever that means. Still, recent spy shots of two Bronco Sports wearing different grilles back up those rumors. It’s unclear exactly which grille designs these are and how the trio will fit into the lineup.

We already know Ford is naming some of the Bronco Sport’s trim levels after national parks, with Base, Big Bend, Outerbanks, Badlands, and First Edition on offer. Certainly more exciting than S, SE, SEL and so on in the alphabet soup of most other cars. These three grille designs may be matched to specific trims, or they may be optional on each.
Also from the spy shots, the one of the Bronco Sport’s doors is open and is painted in a very bold orange color, likely Cyber Orange. But that spy shot shows another interesting detail: the rear tailgate glass.

Many cars allow the rear glass of the tailgate to be opened without opening the whole tailgate. This Bronco Sport test car has what looks like a handle under the rear wiper, and hinges above the window on the outside. If it does get an opening rear window, this would be yet another point of differentiation between the Bronco Sport and the Escape on which it’s based.
