Whether you approve of an electric Mustang crossover or not, the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E has reached production, and now customer’s hands. First spotted on the Mach-E Forum, Five Star Performance Ford in Dallas, Texas, has posted photos of two happy customers with their new Mustang Mach-E in the past week, the first sightings we’ve seen of a sale. Ford said deliveries would start late 2020, and they weren’t kidding, as the first photo was posted on New Years Eve. Despite coming down to the wire, Ford held their word. It’s also possible this isn’t the first delivery, just the first posted to social media.

That Ford Mustang Mach-E in question is a white California Route 1 model, the trim level geared towards maximum range. Fittingly, or not, the owner brought along his 1965 Mustang convertible and 2015 California Special GT Coupe for the delivery, all three in white. The Mustang Mach-E California Route 1 comes only in rear drive, but with the largest battery pack for maximum efficiency.  Ford says it produces 290 and goes 300 miles on a charge.

Then, on January 2, the same Ford dealership posted photos of a Grabber Blue Ford Mustang Mach-E first Edition being handed off to its new family. The First Edition Mach-E is sold in limited quantities, although Ford hasn’t said exactly how many they are making. They appeared to be sold out around this time last year, but they decided to extend production and offer a few more late this summer. First Edition models get a dual motor all wheel drive setup good for 346 hp and 270 miles of range. Their differentiated from the similar Premium trim level with red brake calipers, special badging, and all equipment included in the price.

It’s no surprise that a Dallas Ford dealership is getting their Mustang Mach-E deliveries carried out first, as southern states are closer to the Cuautitlán Izcalli, Mexico, plant the crossover is built in. While the Grabber Blue First Edition model is the most exciting of these early deliveries, we’ll hold out for the 480 hp GT model coming later, especially in Performance Edition guise. Like it or not, the industry is pushing hard towards electric cars, and Ford doesn’t want to shelter the Mustang from that reality.
