The High Wing for the C8 Corvette has gone, returned, and now it is gone again for the remainder of the 2022 model year. Customers who have placed an order with the High Wing spoiler equipped onto their 2022 Corvette Stingray coupes and convertibles may have already received an email stating that the option is no longer available, which is quite the bummer since it adds to the aggression of the C8 Corvette.

General Motors will not be accepting the high wing spoiler due to the number they already have on backorder. This indicates that supply constraints are once again the reasoning behind the removal. However, it’s not all bad news since aftermarket companies offer high wings for the C8 Corvette. What’s more, you can often obtain a C8 Corvette Stingray High Wing Spoiler for cheaper than it would be if you order it through Chevrolet.

C8 Corvette High Wing: Aftermarket To The Rescue

Chevrolet Accessories currently has the Carbon Flash Metallic high wing spoiler listed for $995. Meanwhile, the visible carbon-fiber option is $6,495. By comparison, American Hydrocarbon posted on the MidEngineCorvetteForum that they have their own C8 Corvette high wing spoiler starting at $699.98 at the moment of reporting. They claim that the spoiler is an exact copy of the OEM one. In addition, they offer a visible carbon-fiber variant which adds $400 to the price. Also, painting options and endplate colors can be adjusted to the customer’s preference and will only add to the overall cost. However, it’s still turning out to be cheaper than if it came from Chevrolet.

It’s unclear when or if Chevrolet will bring back the high wing spoiler. However, production for the 2022 model year is expected to finish in a few months, and 2023 Corvette production will begin in May 2022, which will bring about the C8 Corvette Z06, which will feature a flat-plane crankshaft engine that flaunts 670 horsepower. The new 5.5L LT6 V8 engine was developed in the back of the IMSA GTLM championship-winning C8.R GTE. The 2023 Corvette 70th Anniversary Edition has been announced, as well.

Zac's love for cars started at a young age, after seeing the popular Eleanor from Gone In 60 Seconds. From there, fascination and enthusiasm blossomed and to this day the Ford Mustang remains a favorite. His first job started out detailing cars, but also provided the opportunity to work on restoration including an 1968 Ford Mustang, Pontiac Firebird, and a C3 Corvette, though he left that job before further work and experience could be had. From there, he was a detailer at a car dealership before quitting that job to try and finish college.

Much of his free time while studying was spent watching YouTube videos regarding new cars, or off-roading. 4WD247 is a personal favorite channel which rekindled a dying flame in car enthusiasm, now tailored towards trucks and SUVs and the fun that can be had building up an overlanding rig, and going on adventures, though, that chapter remains unwritten for the time being.
