The 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 debut is just days away, and you can almost hear the buzz getting louder. Or maybe that’s just all of the cicadas. Either way, it’s a big deal for Chevrolet, General Motors, and Silverado fans everywhere. Major updates are expected inside the cabin, along with the introduction of a new ZR2 off-road trim level, and cutting edge technology such as the Super Cruise semi autonomous driving system, made possible by the integration of the GM VIP electrical architecture. The new Silverado exterior design is going to change slightly as well, and a recent photo has leaked showing what can can expect. The photo was published in an official General Motors parts catalog, and can be found on GM-Trucks.com.

Update: The 2022 Silverado has been revealed, and you can read all about it below:

2022 Chevrolet Silverado Exterior Changes

Chevrolet Silverado fans will notice that the “sideburn” style air curtains are still there, but look to be more cleanly integrated into the front fascia that what we see today, fitting below the headlights instead of off to the side. And they were teased by GM design some months ago, via the photo at the top of the article. Entry trim levels – such as the WT and Custom – will still feature a bowtie on the driver’s side with the word “Chevrolet” across the front. In addition, the truck’s front will feature a new “mail slot” grille insert placed directly above the cross bar, along with an accent stripe that takes up the entire width.

These updates are not to be confused with the 2022 Silverado LTD, which is a carryover model serving as a stopgap in the timeline that’s been disrupted by COVID-19 and supplier issues. Internally, the refreshed Chevrolet truck carries a “2022i” model year designation.

2022 Chevrolet Silverado ZR2 Debuting In A Week

The 2022 Chevrolet Silverado lineup will be capped by the introduction of a ZR2 variant, which will feature the L87 V8 engine, a 2-inch lift, Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires, Multimatic DSSV dampers, and bumper cutouts similar to what we see with the smaller Colorado ZR2. While not expected to have the sheer power to match the Ram 1500 TRX and Ford F-150 Raptor, the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado ZR2 is expected to out crawl and out climb the F-150 Tremor and Ram Rebel, and is expected to carry a more agreeable price tag than either the TRX or the Raptor.

The refreshed 2022 Chevrolet Silverado family will debut on September 9th.

Zac's love for cars started at a young age, after seeing the popular Eleanor from Gone In 60 Seconds. From there, fascination and enthusiasm blossomed and to this day the Ford Mustang remains a favorite. His first job started out detailing cars, but also provided the opportunity to work on restoration including an 1968 Ford Mustang, Pontiac Firebird, and a C3 Corvette, though he left that job before further work and experience could be had. From there, he was a detailer at a car dealership before quitting that job to try and finish college.

Much of his free time while studying was spent watching YouTube videos regarding new cars, or off-roading. 4WD247 is a personal favorite channel which rekindled a dying flame in car enthusiasm, now tailored towards trucks and SUVs and the fun that can be had building up an overlanding rig, and going on adventures, though, that chapter remains unwritten for the time being.

  1. Don’t believe any of this till you see it. I’m ordering a 2022 3500 crewcab dually today and they don’t look anything like this

    • The 2022 HD is not getting an update. The 2022 LD is getting a mid generation facelift. One thing I’m excited for is a bigger screen. Its not the biggest deal, but its about time Chevy had more than an 8inch screen, its basically been the same since 2014.

I do have to give it to you, I don’t think this picture is anything close to what GM is going to make for the updated 2022
