The 2022 Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer have finally returned to the SUV brand’s lineup as their return to the three row, full size SUV segment. While Jeep is certainly leaning on the heritage of that nameplate, they also want these vehicles to push Jeep into the future, and nowhere is that more visible than the impressive tech onboard. It’s all about the screens on the Wagoneer siblings, and top spec models can get a whopping 75 inches of total screen real estate. Here’s everything you need to know about the 2022 Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer tech.
The heart of the interior tech comes from the central Uconnect 5 touchscreen, measuring 10.1 inches on the Wagoneer and 12.0 inches on the Grand Wagoneer. This system supports the usual Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but can also be optioned with the first ever Amazon Fire TV for Auto streaming service. Their large size allows Uconnect 5 to run split views, so you can have entertainment on one half the screen and navigation on the other.
Both Jeep models also get a digital instrument cluster, measuring 10.3 inches for the Wagoneer and 12.3 inches for the Grand Wagoneer. It’s totally configurable and can display up to 12 menus, from driver assist and navigation to media. Above this, there’s an optional heads up display that projects 10 inches of information onto the windshield.
While impressive, this tech isn’t particularly groundbreaking. The passenger display is, however. Optional on Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer, the 10.25 inch passenger display lets the passenger operate as a co-pilot, with full media and navigation functionality. On models with Fire TV for Auto, they can even stream movies and TV on the move, and a protective shield will block the driver from distraction. If owners spec the optional rear seat displays, which are 10.1 inches each, the front passenger screen can control them. You can also plug a phone, tablet or computer into the passenger display for device mirroring.
2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer customers get the boost from 50 to 75 inches of tech filled screen mainly from HVAC control displays. A 10.25 inch comfort display lies under the main infotainment display, and controls everything from heating and air conditioning to seat position and massage. Luckily, a structural beam separates these displays and features physical climate control switches for easier use while driving.
A similar display of the same size sits between the two rear passengers if the Grand Wagoneer has specced the rear seat entertainment package. This leaves the 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer with an optional seven distinct screens, and they can even operate in conjunction during the startup sequence or for what Jeep calls relax mode.
Apart from all the screens, the 2022 Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer can option a full suite of driver assistance systems, two levels of McIntosh audio systems, five color ambient lighting, a digital rear view mirror, and rear seat monitoring system. If you couldn’t tell, these Jeeps are all about tech married with old school American craftsmanship, and they should be successful for it.
