MC&T has been keeping a close eye on any information surrounding the production of the new Ford Mustang, and today there’s an update to report. And there’s good news if you’re interested in an entry-level 2024 Ford Mustang EcoBoost, or Coyote-powered S650 Mustang GT. And if you’re waiting for the Dark Horse, you could have one by summertime.

2024 S650 Ford Mustang Production: Details

The update was recently added to the Mustang7g forum, and we can see that scheduling for Week 19 (May 7th) will be for US stock orders for the Early Build Program #2. The Early Build Program refers to preconfigured units that meet early build requirements. This will be a mix of EcoBoost & GT trims and Coupe and Convertibles.

Previously we knew that these vehicles would be produced in early spring and set to arrive in dealerships early in the summer, but now there’s a specific date. All Ford Mustang muscle cars are built exclusively at the Flat Rock Assembly plant in Southeast Michigan.

That being said, the 2024 S650 Ford Mustang Dark Horse doesn’t fall into an early build category, so dealerships and customers will have to wait for that. The post also shows that US allocations for the high-performance Mustang have been delayed until June, which means Dark Horse production will be pushed back to somewhere during the summer of 2023. Though, if we look on the bright side, that gives customers more time to save as Ford increased the pricing of these epic vehicles for the new generation

The new 2023 S650 Ford Mustang EcoBoost has an MSRP of $30,920 USD before destination, making it the most expensive base Mustang ever. For comparison, it’s approximately $3,150 USD more than the outgoing 2023 S550 Mustang EcoBoost. The 2024 Mustang GT Fastback has an MSRP of $41,495 USD, an increase of $13,150 USD over the S550 Mustang GT Fastback from the 2023 model year. The price will only increase if you’re looking for convertible options. Meanwhile, the 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse has an MSRP of $57,970 USD, $1,400 more than the S550 2023 Mustang Mach 1 it replaced in the hierarchy.

Zac's love for cars started at a young age, after seeing the popular Eleanor from Gone In 60 Seconds. From there, fascination and enthusiasm blossomed and to this day the Ford Mustang remains a favorite. His first job started out detailing cars, but also provided the opportunity to work on restoration including an 1968 Ford Mustang, Pontiac Firebird, and a C3 Corvette, though he left that job before further work and experience could be had. From there, he was a detailer at a car dealership before quitting that job to try and finish college.

Much of his free time while studying was spent watching YouTube videos regarding new cars, or off-roading. 4WD247 is a personal favorite channel which rekindled a dying flame in car enthusiasm, now tailored towards trucks and SUVs and the fun that can be had building up an overlanding rig, and going on adventures, though, that chapter remains unwritten for the time being.
