TAKE A RAM 1500 REBEL, ONE CUMMINS DIESEL ENGINE, ADD A STICK SHIFT, AND BE AMAZED

Meet the RebHELL

Ram 1500 Rebel With Cummins Diesel Engine And Manual

Automotive enthusiasts are known for doing some pretty crazy projects, which are often quite epic. One such project, the “RebHELL,” is a perfect example. Created by Charles, also known as that_guy_from_br on social media, the RebHELL takes a 2019 Ram 1500 Rebel with just 600 miles and replaces the engine with a 707-horsepower supercharged one from a Hellcat. Charles effectively created a TRX before it was released, but now he’s back at it and is swapping the Hellcat engine for a compound turbo 24-valve Cummins diesel engine.

There’s no sense in having a RebHELL if Ram already makes them with the name TRX, so what’s the next craziest thing? How about placing an engine designed for a heavy-duty truck under the hood of a light-duty one? Why stop there? While the project’s latest iteration generates an incredible amount of torque, capable of spinning the tires in almost any gear, Charles also decided to add a G56 6-speed manual transmission from a fourth-generation Ram Heavy Duty to the project. In addition to giving the Ram 1500 Rebel a Cummins diesel engine and manual transmission, it has also been fitted with a custom shift plate and short throw shifter in the center console for added fun.

According to Mopar Insiders, despite the significant modifications to the truck, the interior remains fully functional, and almost even looks factory-made. The reworked center console has been redesigned to accommodate the installation of the 6-speed manual transmission, which seamlessly integrates with the dashboard layout. Additionally, with the help of the short-throw design, the shifter never comes into contact with the Uconnect screen.

As for the exterior of the Ram 1500 Rebel, it has been given Fiberworx widebody fenders and bedsides, 37-inch Nitto tires, Method wheels, and custom nostrils in the grille, which have been borrowed from a Dodge Charger. Though the truck hasn’t been tested on a dyno yet, it’s safe to say that its performance is even more impressive than it was with the Hellcat engine.

Zac's love for cars started at a young age, after seeing the popular Eleanor from Gone In 60 Seconds. From there, fascination and enthusiasm blossomed and to this day the Ford Mustang remains a favorite. His first job started out detailing cars, but also provided the opportunity to work on restoration including an 1968 Ford Mustang, Pontiac Firebird, and a C3 Corvette, though he left that job before further work and experience could be had. From there, he was a detailer at a car dealership before quitting that job to try and finish college.

Much of his free time while studying was spent watching YouTube videos regarding new cars, or off-roading. 4WD247 is a personal favorite channel which rekindled a dying flame in car enthusiasm, now tailored towards trucks and SUVs and the fun that can be had building up an overlanding rig, and going on adventures, though, that chapter remains unwritten for the time being.
