The Ford F-150 Raptor R isn’t even out yet, but Whipple is already primed to boost this truck to the moon.
The upcoming F-150 Raptor R super truck is set to arrive later in 2022 as a 2023 model year and is expected to be powered by a 5.2L supercharged V8 that’s straight out of the S550 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500. As such, Whipple is extending the 3.8L supercharger upgrade that it currently sells for the GT500 to the upcoming Raptor R. As a reminder, the standard GT500 has a 2.65-liter inverted roots-type supercharger, delivering 12 psi of boost to the engine to create 760 horsepower and 625 pound-feet of torque.

In the Raptor R it’s rumored to make in the range of 700 horsepower, essentially confirmed by Whipple’s Instagram hashtag of #raptor700. Apparently, that isn’t enough for some people, however, which is why this kit is available. According to the aftermarket manufacturer’s website, equipping the supercharger can offer “incredible power levels, well into the 2,000-horsepower range in race applications.”
Whipple says that the new fifth-generation unit features a 3/4 asymmetrical rotor design and new housing, as well as a billet idler plate and idler pulleys. Additionally, the blower has a 132-millimeter throttle body and 145-millimeter cold air intake.
As of yet, there isn’t a price for all this madness, but we do get a glimpse at how much importance Whipple places on color selection based on cost. For example, a white or blue finish will set you back $600, while the polished option is $1,500. Gloss black is standard.
