Our biggest takeaway from the 2021 SEMA Show was this: the Ford Bronco is on everybody’s mind right now. If you’ve got a shop that makes parts, or you’re into off roading, chances are you’re one of the many budgeting and investing for this reborn iconic SUV. Primarily, things are geared toward ruggedness, but if you really want to be different, you zig when everybody zags. That means, instead of putting on a lift kit, a live front axle, and 37-inch tires on a new Bronco, you bag it. And that’s exactly what we see today with this collaboration between Vossen Wheels and AccuAir Suspension.
Ford Bronco On Bags: Built Different
When the air suspension of this bagged Ford Bronco is emptied out, the vehicle can tuck a 35-inch tire beneath the overland ready fenders with ease, which could lower its drag coefficient, and might boost fuel economy as a result. Meanwhile, when the suspension is fully aired up, it functions as a 3-inch lift kit for the Bronco, enabling it to take on any obstacle without as much worry about ground clearance. The AccuAir Bronco Build sports 20-inch Vossen Hybrid Forged HF6-3’s in Anthracite color.
And if you think that an air suspension is too delicate for off-roading, keep in mind that the GMC Hummer EV utilizes this kind of technology, too.
It doesn’t look like AccuAir Suspension is currently selling the air suspension kit for the Ford Bronco as of yet, or if they ever will. So, for the time being, this could very well be the only custom kit out there. However, AccuAir does offer three different kits to fit onto an assortment of vehicles that they state is an easy installation. The system certainly looks like something out of back to the future with the X-shaped connector that enables long-range Bluetooth connectivity to a smartphone, and from there, users can get nit-picky about how much air pressure is in each airbag and see the PSI of the tank.
This AccuAir Ford Bronco is undoubtedly a fantastic modification and might serve to inspire others to modify their own Broncos. However, some may decide to wait just in case AccuAir decides to mass-produce the Ford Bronco kit.
