The C8 Corvette has been around for a little while now, which means that some folks are already dissatisfied with its level of performance. Seeing as the track-focused C8 ZO6 has yet to make its debut, buyers have had to look to the aftermarket for a solution. Several tuning companies have released teasers for twin-turbo kits, despite the C8 Corvette having a mega-encrypted ECU. The team over at ProCharger are the latest to try and up the ante for the new Corvette, with their all new bolt-on supercharger system. The company lays claim to being the first supercharged C8 Corvette.

MC&T first reported on this kit all the way back in April, when it was just being conceptualized. According to ProCharger, this all-new intercooled bolt-on supercharger system is able to take the C8 Corvette’s LT2 V8 from 495 horsepower on up to over 700 horsepower. That’s an impressive figure, especially when you consider that ProCharger says the car will pull those numbers on pump gas. The supercharger doesn’t hide in the background either, as it can be heard loud and proud in the company’s teaser video.

That said, ProCharger has made no mention as to whether or not the kit will include any sort of tuning or remapping. This is somewhat of a problem should you actually want to use the car. The C8 Corvette is underpinned by the E99 ECU, which has proven to be damn-near impossible to crack because of GM’s new Global B electrical architecture. This is a massive win on the side of cybersecurity, but it has negative implications for the turning world. Without being able to adjust engine and transmission parameters, a piggy-back ECU has to be used to make everything sort of work together. Not the proper solution we are used to, nor is it one that has been proven to work over time.

ProCharger says that their new bolt-on kit for the C8 Corvette is just around the corner, though other details are slim at this time. Whenever it does arrive, it will be the first supercharger kit available for the Vette, which feels more appropriate than the twin-turbo kits that everyone is building. We just hope that this tuning situation can be solved as GM moves forward with its Global B rollout.
