Classic Recreations, builder of high-performance American-Made Shelby carbon fiber muscle cars from 69-70 Mustangs, and trucks, has just announced that it will be unveiling the first of only ten licensed Carbon Fiber Shelby Cobra Race Cars, dubbed the Diamond Edition, at Monterey Car Week with exclusive viewings on August 18, 2023. It will also be viewable at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering 2023, and Exotics on Broadway on August 19.
Classic Recreation Shelby Cobra Diamond Edition: Details
This stunning car is a tribute to Carroll Shelby’s unparalleled design and engineering, which has captivated collectors for 60 years. The officially licensed Shelby Cobra Race Car has been meticulously re-engineered and designed entirely in carbon fiber. Eight remaining Carbon Fiber cars are available to serious collectors for $1.2 million.
The display will give visitors of the events an “exploded” view of the car’s design and performance engineering, including its CAD-designed, race-inspired chassis, billet CNC-machined aluminum assembly components, cantilever suspension, and other vital components that make this thing a genuine diamond. With up to 1,000 horsepower and 750 lb-ft of torque, this lightweight car can accelerate from 0-60 in just 3.9 seconds with a top speed of 190 mph. This comes from a Gen3 5.0L Coyote Aluminator engine from Ford Racing paired to a Tremec T56 Magnum 6-speed manual connected by a Dual CV chromoly driveshaft.
The car rides on CAD-designed inboard cantilever suspension with state-of-the-art billet machined components. Providing stopping power for the Shelby Cobra Diamond Edition is Shelby’s signature 6PF 4PR braking system by BAER with 14″ front and rear rotors. A dash-mounted billet machined Shelby plate with ten diamonds representing each serial number helps show off the uniqueness and rarity of this gorgeous creation. If you have the money on hand, plan on heading over to one of these events, as the company will accept allocation requests at both events beginning at 9 am at The Quail and after 1 pm on Saturday at Exotics on Broadway or by appointment if you can’t make it to either of those.
