They say it’s the mark of an educated mind to entertain a thought without accepting it. Keep that in mind as we unpack the image above. The 2021 Ford F-150 is coming soon as an all new generation, but is expected to carry a rather evolutionary redesign inside and out. The interior will definitely be a nice update, but hardly a groundbreaking design. But what if Ford wanted to through out the rulebook on the next model and make something radically futuristic? Artist Pablo Doldán has imagined a future Ford F-150 Raptor interior, and it’s certainly an entertaining thought.
The design is thoroughly clean, crisp and modern. The entire interior is devoid of most physical buttons, save for a few on the steering wheel and center console. Whether this is a good thing is up to you, but it’s hard to deny more is less in terms of looks for this design.
Sitting centrally as the focal point of the interior is a large, curved portrait touchscreen that presumably handles all of the cars features. It rises as an extension of the center console, rather than being entirely in the center stack. The driver instrument cluster mimics the curved, rising design. It’s a nice touch.
On the dash, long, unbroken horizontal lines extenuate the width of the design. The thin, horizontal air vents also carry the minimalist design. Moving the center screen lower down as a part of the center console allowed the designer to reduce clutter on the center stack, and integrate the center air vents into one unit instead of the usual two.
Finally, Doldán used black and tan colors to add some contrast throughout the interior. The tan coloring around the outboard air vents helps visually round and wrap the dash at either end. There are also other tan accents in the interior, such as the strips stretching along the canter console.
While the next Ford F-150 Raptor interior won’t look anything like this, it may not be too long before it resembles something that does.
