PLUM CRAZY DODGE DEMON CONVERTIBLE IS ON THE MARKET

The Drop Top Dragster Can Be Yours

Dodge Demon

The Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is the undisputed dragstrip champion when it comes to outright performance from the factory. The street legal racer features the most drag racing technology ever shoved into a street car, with the power levels to match. Under the hood the Demon carries the most powerful V8 engine ever found in a production car, with power figures of 840 horsepower and 770 pound-feet of torque from the supercharged 6.4L V8. It is clear that the car is intended for the quarter mile, but one owner decided their Dodge Demon was destined for cruising how they do it on the Vegas Strip: topless.

This Plum Crazy Demon is number 2,762 of the 3,300 built, though we are sure that it is the only Demon convertible out there. The CarFax report shows that this SRT Demon is currently on its second owner, who took ownership of the car when it had only 14 miles on the clock. At this time the odometer reads 172 miles, meaning the current owner enjoyed the car at least a little bit. The conversion was performed at Drop Top Customs by Convertible Builders LLC in High Springs, Florida. We’ve reported on some of the other drop-top Challengers that Convertible Builders LLC has done in the past, though this Demon Convertible is by far the coolest of their projects. The Florida based company has been doing conversions since 1976, and are capable enough to do a project like this the right way.

The car looks great with the top down, further showing it is a shame that Dodge refuses to create a convertible variant of the Challenger themselves. According to Motor Authority, the top itself is a three-layer soft-top featuring a heated glass rear window. Manual latches on either side of the windshield control the top, which is hydraulic powered.

The car is listed for sale by the Cape Coral Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram dealership, in Coral, Florida. Motor Authority reported that the car is technically on consignment at the dealership, with a list price of $145,995. That is quite a lot of money, especially when you consider than the standard Dodge Challenger SRT Demon carried an MSRP of $84,995 plus destination. That being said, the type of person who wants to buy a drop top version of the car that holds the world records for both fastest zero to sixty time and fastest quarter-mile isn’t exactly sane.

Just a note for whoever does purchase this car, please be sure to remove that damn splitter guard before taking your demonic drop top for its inaugural cruise.
