The next stop on Barrett-Jackson’s auction calendar is at the South Florida Fairgrounds in Palm Springs from April 7th to 9th. And while there’s plenty of metal to write about, three 2022 Corvette Stingray IMSA GTLM Championship C8.R Editions will be available for purchase with no reserve.
There were only 1,000 of these street legal race cars ever built for the 2022 model year and with the 2023 Z06 slated to kick off production in May, it appears enthusiasts are getting ready to unload their old toys and make room for new ones.
Lots 686, 731, and 745, are those of Corvette Stingray IMSA GTLM Championship C8.R’s and represent production numbers 848, 603, and 174 respectively. All three sport the 6.2L LT2 V8 engine producing 495 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. While less beefy than the 5.5L V8 LT6 coming on the 2023 Z06, it’s still capable enough to post a 0-60 time under 3-seconds. While the vehicles were offered in both Accelerate Yellow and Hypersonic Gray, all three of these are of the Gray variety and sport yellow racing stripes to emulate the look of Corvettes winning racing machines entered into competition in 2020.
The Gray color was also the more popular among orders once books opened and nearly sold out shortly after. Out of the three offered C8.R Corvette’s two of them are convertible, one is a coupe. You could say all three of these C8 Corvettes were lightly driven and were well taken care of as only one of them has more than a thousand miles on the clock (lot 745 with 2,500 total miles on it) lot 686 only has 26 miles on the odometer and lot 731 has just under one-thousand miles with 951. Each vehicle comes with a special number plaque indicating which exact car you own as well as black trident wheels and yellow brake calipers along with a high-wing spoiler in a Carbon Flash finish. Inside the Corvette you’ll find an interior that mirrors the racing theme of the exterior, a Strike Yellow and Sky Cool Gray color combination set everything off.
