Last year, Whipple Superchargers released an intercooler for the Bronco Raptor‘s 3.0L EcoBoost engine which offers 58% greater internal core volume, a 144% increase in external fin surface, and it’s 12% less restrictive than the stock intercooler core. But now, Bronco Raptor owners can increase the power of their SUV even further with the announcement of the Whipple Superchargers Bronco Raptor Stage 1 kit.
Ford Bronco Raptor Whipple Stage 1 Kit: Details
The Whipple stage 1 system for the Ford Bronco Raptor couples the Whipple Mega Cooler and industry-leading custom calibration to make up to 90 more lb-ft of torque and 40 more horsepower over stock. Even better, from 2000 rpm, the system produces significantly more torque giving more power under the curve for incredible throttle response, which should prove particularly useful when rock crawling. In addition, the calibration further enhances shift points to utilize the increased torque better, resulting in a much better overall driving experience.
A post on the Whipple Superchargers Facebook page reveals a video of the Ford Bronco Raptor on the dyno and includes a chart showcasing the tune’s before and after results. Customers will see some serious power bumps by combining the intercooler upgrade and performance tune. The stage kit uses a PCM reflash via Whipple’s Tomahawk handheld programmer intended for 91/93 octane pump gas. With an enhanced auto-octane feature, the tune will adapt on the fly. In addition, the transmission has been improved with a revised shift schedule for a sportier driving experience. It also eliminates skip shifts, increases max shift points, and adds a new downshift schedule which will quickly select the right gear for the power you demand.
Customers can also adjust the axle ratio and tire size (max 5.10 gear ratio, 44″ tire). Bronco Raptor owners may encounter aftermarket tire/wheel change issues, but this stage kit should solve that problem. Pricing for the Whipple Superchargers Ford Bronco Raptor Stage 1 Kit comes in at $1,850, though an extra $50 could be added if customers choose to finish the intercooler in semi-gloss black.
