ORDERS OPEN FOR 2020 RAM HD LIMITED BLACK EDITION

The current crop Ram Heavy Duty pickups are a massive and intimidating truck in their own right, but the brand realizes some owners want them to look downright sinister. A blacked-out exterior is the best way to achieve this, and Ram has done just that with the Black Appearance Package, available on the 2020 Ram HD 2500 and 3500. Now, MoparInsiders are reporting the package is ready to order at your local dealership. A quick check on the official configurator confirmed you can select the package, for $995, when you configure a Ram HD Limited.

The Back Appearance Package is only available on 2020 Ram Heavy Duty Limited models, and it blacks out nearly every exterior component. The trucks get specialty black wheels, black grille, darkened headlights and taillights, tow hooks and badging. As for exterior and interior color choices, you can have whatever you’d like as long as it’s black. In reality, the only thing that isn’t black on the exterior are the Cummins badges if you opt for a diesel.

MoparInsiders estimates the truck will reach dealerships sometime during Q3. It’ll join the Night Edition, another dark appearance pack, on Ram Heavy Duty trucks. The Night Edition is available on Big Horn and Laramie trim levels, but these packs aren’t available on the Limited trim. Also, if you like black trim but don’t want a black truck, the Night Edition is available in colors other than black.

Based on the Limited model, the Back Appearance Package means you’re opting for the most expensive and most luxurious truck Ram offers. Inside, there’s leather everywhere and the huge 12 inch portrait infotainment display. 2500 and 3500 models can choose either a 6.4 liter Hemi V8 or 6.7 liter Cummins inline 6 turbo diesel. Ram HD 3500 models can upgrade that Cummins motor to High-Output configuration, which gives a monstrous 1,000 ft-lbs of torque.

While the Black Appearance Package on the 2020 Ram Heavy Duty Limited truck lineup is little more than a blacked-out exterior, it looks mean as hell, and shows many pickup owners are tired of chrome.
