Last summer, the Ford Bronco launched with not one, not two, but seven models in the initial lineup. While that may seem like a lot, its chief rival, the Jeep Wrangler, has 12 models for the 2021 model year. That even doesn’t include the three 4xe hybrid models and Wrangler Rubicon 392, which aren’t yet on sale. This strategy works well for Jeep, so it’s no surprise to see Ford follow suit with their Bronco off-road SUV. We’ve already known the high performance Warthog and Raptor models are likely coming in 2022 and 2023 respectively, but Bronco 6G Forum appears to have acquired details on the latest addition to the lineup.

And that Ford Bronco, according to model codes leaked to the forum by an insider, will be a Heritage Edition. The model codes, listed below, don’t give us too much, but they do provide some hints as to what this vehicle will be like. Ford Bronco communications manager Jiyan Cadiz also confirmed to The Bronco Nation the Heritage Edition isn’t coming in 2021, but didn’t deny it for the 2022 Bronco model year. The model codes are as follows:

E5G – 2 Door Adv. AWD Heritage Lmt.
E5H – 4 Door Adv. AWD Heritage Lmt.

While this doesn’t tell us much, we know the 2022 Ford Bronco Heritage Edition will come in Two and Four-Door body styles, have the advanced 4×4 system, and likely be a limited edition. While no visual description is given, it’s safe to assume it’ll have a retro appearance, through special paint colors, graphics or both. Special interior trim, wheels, grill and badging are all possible too. There’s also a good chance the retro model will get a white roof, as the initial Bronco press photos featured a model with a white roof, but we have only seen black hard and soft tops offered so far.

The 2022 Ford Bronco Heritage Edition will probably be positioned around the Badlands and Wildtrak in terms of off-road capability. Those models feature the Advanced 4×4 system as standard. The system is optional on lower trim models. There’s a chance this special edition could be a Badlands with some exclusive retro design touches.

This is the first time we’ve heard about this new addition to the Ford Bronco family, so watch this space for everything you need to know about the upcoming 2022 Bronco Heritage Edition, as well as the Warthog and Raptor.
