The past decade has seen the popularity of factory built off-roaders increase dramatically. Whether it be a Raptor, a Wrangler, or a Ram Rebel pickup, buyers now have more choices than ever in the segment. When it comes to the mid-size offerings however, the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Bison by AEV reigns supreme. According to a post on the company’s social media pages, buyers can now place orders for 2020 ZR2 Bison models.
Chevrolet has worked in tandem with American Expedition Vehicles to create the ZR2 package for the Colorado, and it truly transforms the truck into an off-road performer. The truck features a Chevrolet Performance Products Stage 1 Leveling Kit, some rather slick Multimatic Dynamic Suspensions Spool Valve dampers, an upgraded AEV 4.10 axle, AEV HighMark Fender Flares, upgraded bumpers front and rear, and AEV Crestone DualSport Wheels wrapped in 35-inch BFGoodrich Tires.

They didn’t stop there though, as the ZR2 Bison takes the Colorado up yet another notch. Essentially a kit of armor for the already impressive truck, the Bison package adds stamped-steel bumper front and rear, and a tremendous amount of underbelly shielding. Everything from the oil pan, fuel tank, transfer case, and both differentials are covered with boron-steel skid plates, which are much stronger than the units on the lesser ZR2s.
American Expedition Vehicles is currently offering the 2020 Colorado ZR2 package for $12,999, not including the price of the donor pickup from Chevrolet. For those interested in the ZR2 Bison, you should be prepared to shell out $11,949.00 on top of the price of a standard Bison from the Chevy dealer. While the packages aren’t cheap, the end results are some of the best driving off-roaders on the market today. You can even head to American Expedition Vehicles’ website to search for a local dealership that can help to get you into one of these capable mid-size trucks.
