FORD CONTINUES TO BATTLE ITS MAVERICK BACKLOG

Several Trim Levels Were Ordered Beyond Capacity

The Ford Maverick compact truck has been an enormous success for the company, with Escape and Bronco Sport underpinnings. Despite its tiny stature, it’s an extremely capable little truck and versatile, which is why there’s such a high demand for it. As Ford continues to fight against the Maverick backlog, they have recently sent out a dealer memo that requests four actions from the company’s dealership network.

Ford Maverick Dealer Memo: Details

The dealer memo was posted on the Maverick Truck Club forum. The first action required for dealers is to evaluate their existing 23MY order bank to ensure customers whose 22MY orders went unscheduled will receive the highest priority code. Secondly, customers should be reminded that 35 percent of all production capacity will go to the front-wheel-drive Hybrid. Finally, the memo also requires dealers to inform existing retail order holders that they can add optional packages that are currently still available.

Commodities currently running under available capacity include the Co-Pilot 360 Package, Co-Pilot360 Assist Package, XLT Luxury Package, Lariat Luxury Package, and the Tremor Off-Road Package. The Tremor Package is a newer option introduced for 2023 and currently only has 2 percent out of 10 percent available capacity, which is quite surprising. By comparison, the Hybrid features a current retail USOB of 73 percent compared to the available capacity of 35 percent.

Turns out people really do want a small, frugal, fuel efficient truck. Chevy, Ram, are you listening?

The memo also states that the XL trim level is running at 26 percent compared to the available capacity of 15 percent. The base configuration is also popular with customers who intend to customize their Mavericks. It’s also popular amongst cost-sensitive customers since the price is certainly more manageable, especially with current interest rates.

Additionally, Ford has addressed certain constraints on specific accessories, including the spray-in bedliner. Customers who specify the spray-in bedliner and cargo management system are offered a special discount that brings the total price down to $495. Luckily, any changes to 23MY retail orders will not impact scheduling.

Zac's love for cars started at a young age, after seeing the popular Eleanor from Gone In 60 Seconds. From there, fascination and enthusiasm blossomed and to this day the Ford Mustang remains a favorite. His first job started out detailing cars, but also provided the opportunity to work on restoration including an 1968 Ford Mustang, Pontiac Firebird, and a C3 Corvette, though he left that job before further work and experience could be had. From there, he was a detailer at a car dealership before quitting that job to try and finish college.

Much of his free time while studying was spent watching YouTube videos regarding new cars, or off-roading. 4WD247 is a personal favorite channel which rekindled a dying flame in car enthusiasm, now tailored towards trucks and SUVs and the fun that can be had building up an overlanding rig, and going on adventures, though, that chapter remains unwritten for the time being.
