Our own Jason Debler, who also happens to be the host of Jason’s Garage, seems to have pulled off what he calls “one of the biggest automotive purchasing stunts in history.” He found a way how to order a C8 Corvette Z06 supercar, way, way before you’re supposed to.
Debler, who once raced at Le Mans (see the 1:10 mark of the video below), was able to pull a couple of strings through his abundant network of automotive industry insiders, and found a back-door way on how to order a C8 Corvette Z06 that anybody can do. They just have to visit their local Chevrolet dealer, and fill out some forms. Legally, according to Debler’s findings, General Motors can’t cancel the order once it’s received. It’s expected that he’ll have a 2022 Corvette Z06 in “just a few months.” However, pricing, options, and other details were not immediately available.
The video on how he did it is just below:
Update: Yes, this is an April Fools story. Stay tuned for the real thing.
As a refresher, the C8 Corvette Z06 will be the most track-focused Corvette this side of the racing cars. Behind the cabin will be nested an all-new, naturally aspirated 5.5L DOHC V8 engine named LT6 with a flat plane crankshaft that will allow for an 8,000+ RPM redline. It will also be the first “widebody” C8 Corvette design, which will allow for massive Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires all around. MC&T reported these details last year, and recent photo evidence has confirmed our intel. From there, the 2022 Corvette Z06 will offer a high wing spoiler design, uniquely shaped to provide maximum downforce, while not obstructing rear vision from either the rear window, or the more important camera system. A Tremec-sourced 8-speed DCT will be the only transmission available. Finally, the C8 Z06 will introduce a special, center-mounted exhaust system that’s geared to improving the sound of the flat-plane crank V8 engine.
So, if you want to order a new Corvette Z06, you better watch the video.
