The next-generation 2024 S650 Ford Mustang will debut on September 14 at the Detroit Auto Show, less than two weeks away. And while The Stampede event has 1,000 registrants and counting, Ford wanted to loop in the fashionistas as well. To do this, Ford is hosting what its calling the Best Stang Decade contest. Those attending The Stampede are encouraged to wear attire inspired by their favorite period in Mustang history, from the 1960s through today – all six generations in other words – for a chance to win a prize.
Ford Best Stang Decade Contest: Details
A panel of Hour Detroit magazine editors and experts in fashion, arts, and entertainment will judge the attire and select 12 finalists (two from each decade), with the top three costumes earning prizes. First place will receive a two-year lease of an S650 Ford Mustang GT; second place will receive an early drive of the all-new Mustang; third place will get a hot lap in an S650 Mustang with a Ford Performance driver.
Mustang owners can register to participate in The Stampede through September 14, which kicks off with a parade of Mustangs driving from Ford World Headquarters to the debut event at Detroit’s Hart Plaza, where the new 2024 Ford Mustang will be revealed. But if you want to drive a little longer, Ford also invites Mustang owners to join The Drive Home event. The event will kick off on September 6 at LeMay – America’s Car Museum in Tacoma, Washington. It will then cross nine states, plus more than a dozen stops to gather at the headquarters on September 14.
Ford will broadcast The Stampede live on its social channels, sharing the debut event’s excitement, highlighting owners roaring their engines, flexing their customizations, and sharing their passion for the iconic muscle car. In addition, the best Stang Decade entrants will need to be photographed at one of the photo booths at The Stampede between 6:30 pm and 9:30 pm on September 14. The winners will be announced on September 15, 2022.
