With the debut of the 2021 Bronco, Ford has done everything they can to fast track a community around the truck. Whereas Jeep has never abandoned their off-roading fans, the Bronco community has been left to the die-hards since the model’s exit from the market in 1996. With the creation of the Bronco Nation website and the inclusion of Off-Roadeo experience, Ford is trying to reignite that flame. They are also venturing into the ever growing podcasting space, and the first two episodes of the Ford Bronco podcast are now available.
“Bring Back Bronco: The Untold Story” is an eight part series produced by Ford Motor Company, which details the history of the Bronco and its journey back to the production line. More specifically however, the podcast aims to discuss the cultural impact that the 4×4 has had on American culture throughout its run. It’s gonna be chock full of good stories and secrets we’ve never heard before, as well as appearances from Ford executives who played a role in the Bronco story. We’re personally most excited to hear from the Bronco Underground and their efforts to bring the SUV back to life.
The show is hosted by Sonari Glinton, who previously worked as a transportation and economics correspondent for NPR. According to a report from the Detroit Free Press, Glinton actually worked for Ford at the Chicago Assembly plant for a few years, and was one of eight family members to work on an automotive assembly line. Ford bankrolled the podcast, but have no doubt that Glinton had editorial control over the show and its contents.
We like the idea of an automaker backing an automotive podcast, specifically one about their own history. These companies have greater knowledge and access to record that no one else has, which could lead to some seriously cool revelations. The first two Ford Bronco podcast episodes: “The American Dream,” and “Cracks in the Pavement,” are available now everywhere you listen to podcasts. The remaining schedule is below:
