WATCH THE FORD BRONCO TAKE ON JEEP AT MOAB

It’s A Comparison Test Video, Of Sorts

Since the debut of the 2021 Ford Bronco, we’ve slowly started to see some new videos and photos of the off-roader in the real world. Unlike a typical SUV that might be spied out for a quick pop to the shops, these Bronco clips have taken where the 4×4 crafted its legacy. Thanks to @Freewheelin_Overland on Instagram, we now have a true comparison video of a Bronco and a Wrangler taking on the same obstacle at Moab.

The off-roading trails at Moab have become somewhat of a spiritual location for the Jeep brand, and are home to the Jeep Easter Safari event every year (well, not during 2020 of course). So then there is no better place for the returning Ford Bronco to go and show off some of its rock-climbing capabilities.

The video in question actually has two Ford Broncos present, both wearing the Badlands trim. The first is a two-door model with an automatic gearbox, while the other is a soft-top four-door with the seven-speed stick. Accompanying the Fords was also a JL Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon, which we’ve seen running around with some Broncos before.

The two-door Ford Bronco was first to attack the boulder, and the SUV scampered up the obstacle with relative ease. The Rubicon was next up, and its attempt did not go quite as well as the newcomer’s. The longer wheelbase of the Jeep left the SUV high-centered on the rock, forcing the SUV to back down the rock and try again. While reversing, the Jeep was also scooping up quite a bit of sand with it’s rear bumper, which could have been problematic on some harder Earth. This was not a problem that the longer Bronco shared, as it too made its way up the rock with little drama at all.

Now, it is important to note that this video was uploaded by a forum that covers Bronco exclusively. We don’t actually get to see the Jeep make its second attempt at the hill, at which point it may have also easily made it with a better line. Nonetheless, it is still exciting to see what the Bronco is capable of out at Moab, especially when placed next to its biggest rival.
