As off-roading enthusiasts from around the world prepare to descend on Moab, Utah for the 2021 Easter Jeep Safari, the brand has rolled out their latest batch of builds for the event. While the majority of these vehicles are based around the brand’s current offerings, Jeep always likes to highlight their heritage during this off-roading celebration. As a result, they have taken the time to construct a resto-mod based on the 1968 Jeepster Commando. Known as the Jeepster Beach, this 4×4 packs tons of vintage style and modern amenities in one beautiful package.

Under the skin of the Jeepster Beach sits plenty of parts from a JL Wrangler Rubicon, including it’s 2.0L turbocharged engine. Output is up to 340 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque thanks to unique engine calibration, which is 25 percent more power than the factory unit. An eight-speed automatic transmission handles the shifts, while feeding power into the 4:1 transfer case. The SUV rides on a set of 35-inch tires, which look appropriately meaty for a build heading to Moab.

These modern touches are nice, but they aren’t made all that evident by the SUV’s exterior. The bodywork has been slightly massaged, and is now finished in a two-tone Hazy IPA and Zinc Oxide paint scheme. Thanks to some help from the original chrome work found on the truck, the Jeepster Beach is really quite nice to look at. Things are not as old-school inside however, where you see many touches ripped straight out of the JL Wrangler. The seats are custom low-back units, trimmed in some nice red leather. The rear seats have been replaced by a four-point roll cage, which is appropriate in this instance. The dashboard itself is quite modern, and even retains the Wrangler’s infotainment screen. The whole interior screams resto-mod in the best way possible.

The Jeepster Beach may technically be the oldest of the builds heading to the 2021 Easter Jeep Safari from March 27 through April 4, but it is also the most stylish. In fact, this is the SUV we’d like to take home the most out of the bunch. We’re willing to bet that you feel the same way.
