Not Quite The Deal You Think

Over the past couple of months we’ve seen automakers and their financial divisions roll out some rather enticing financing deals. Well, shortly after the debut of the off-roading SUV, Ford have announced a new 7-year loan option for the 2021 Bronco Sport lineup.

According to CarsDirect, all 2021 Bronco Sport models will offer 0% APR for 48 months (4-year) through Ford Credit. Longer plans, such as the 60-month (5-year) and 72-month (6-year) options, are available at 1.9% and 3.9%, respectively according to the car-buying research site. Leasing rates equate to 4.6% APR, with no rebates out of the gate (naturally).

Finally, there’s an 84-month deal. Unlike some other automakers who are offering zero percent APR on similar 84-month loans, the rate for Bronco Sport models will be 5.9 percent for 84 months (7 years) through Ford Credit. This is not unusual for Ford Credit loans, as we already see this same figure attached to the F-150 pickup. That means if you order yourself a bone-stock Bronco Sport, you’ll be looking at a payment of about $410 a month with no money down. That in itself might be intriguing, but that interest rate means you’ll also be on the hook for an additional $6,200 over the course of the loan. In the end that translates to an actual cost of $34,436 for a base model Bronco Sport.

Indeed, the new Bronco Sport qualifies for zero percent APR for 48 months already, but that does bring the monthly payments up to an eye-watering $587 for the base trim level. Ford Credit’s new five-year loan is the one that we think probably makes the most sense for most buyers, with 1.9 percent APR and monthly payments of $492. Ford has gone after their rivals at Jeep with their financing deals as well, as this 60-month offer carries a slightly better rate than the 2.9 percent found on the Wrangler Unlimited model.

The new Bronco Sport and full-size Bronco models are going to play a huge part in Ford’s financial future, so it’s not too surprising to see that they aren’t offering any crazy deals on the models just yet. That being said, we’re sure that is not going to stop people from ordering one of their own.
