Chevrolet is incrementally improving its iconic Tahoe for the 2023 model year by introducing an even hotter version of the RST, with parts and tuning first pioneered by the Tahoe PPV. Dubbed the 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe RST Performance Edition, it features more horsepower and better handling than the so-called “standard” Tahoe RST.
What? Were you expecting a supercharger? From the GM that just launched an “equitable climate action initiative?” Sorry. If you want a boosted Tahoe, we’ll point you to Callaway or Specialty Vehicle Engineering. They come with warranties, you know.
2023 Chevrolet Tahoe RST Performance Edition: Details
Powered by the venerable 6.2-liter V8, the Tahoe RST Performance receives 13 more hp and 7 lb-ft of torque compared to the standard truck thanks to improvements to the air intake and exhaust systems. Total horsepower and torque now stand at 433 hp and 467 lb-ft, respectively, with power being sent to all four wheels via a 10-speed automatic transmission.
The 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe RST Performance benefits from a number of upgrades that were first seen on the pursuit-rated Tahoe PPV, including springs, retuned dampers, a larger-diameter stabilizer bar, and a recalibrated chassis. The ride height has also been lowered by 0.4 inches (10 mm) in front and 0.8 inches (20 mm) in the rear for better handling.

Compared to the standard 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe RST, the Performance Edition drops the 0-60 time to 5.78 seconds from 5.95 seconds and can do the quarter-mile sprint in 14.2 seconds at 97 miles per hour. It even stops faster thanks to Brembo front rear brakes, which feature rotors that are 25% larger than the RST and calibrated for a performance brake feel.
The capability has not been decreased because of the additional scoot, and the RST Performance Edition retains its 7,600-pound towing capacity with the 6.2L L87 engine equipped.
The inside of the Tahoe has also been improved, with a standard luxury package that includes active safety and driver convenience features. Finishing it all off is a blacked-out RST performance badge on the rear tailgate, and a set of sport pedals.
The Chevrolet Tahoe RST Performance Edition is an exclusive add-on to the Tahoe RST and tacks on an additional $8,525 USD. Production will begin in the fourth quarter of 2022 at GM’s Arlington Assembly in Texas, with availability to be announced at a later date. Expect this special Tahoe to be super limited, especially as GM and the rest of the industry continue to grapple with supply chain constraints.
