The 2021 GMC Hummer EV SUV launched in a rather lovely shade of green, called Moonshot Green. The matte hue looks great on the new Hummer SUV, and makes us excited for green to hopefully make a comeback on automaker color palettes moving forward. But that Moonshot Green is an exclusive color for the Edition 1 model, so we’ve been anxiously awaiting what other colors will be offered on the reborn electric Hummer. Luckily, General Motors gave us a sneak peak at these colors in the GMC Hummer EV SUV reveal video, and there are seven other hues coming after the launch of the Hummer EV SUV Edition 1 in 2023.
The boldest are the blue and orange you see above, which are similar to the Rapid Blue and Crush colors we’ve seen on cars like the Chevrolet Camaro. The late-model Hummers were often seen in bright colors like yellow, red and orange, so we were hopeful that the new model would carry forward some extroverted hues that draw attention in the right ways.
The GMC Hummer EV is also an unashamedly expensive luxury electric vehicle, so it’s only fitting for GM to offer the SUV and truck in a gold color like you see below, that sort of resembles Zeus Bronze found on the C8 Corvette. It’s hard to tell for sure in the rendering, but it might be a similar matte finish like we see on the Moonshot Green. The gold could also tie in well with some of the interior trim options.
And of course, the GMC Hummer EV pickup and SUV will be offered in some more standard colors. There’s the white we’ve already seen on the EV pickup Edition 1, plus a black and silver or gray, depending on your definition. The gray is particularly interesting, because it looks a lot like the flat gray that’s become so popular with automakers, first seen in the Audi Nardo Gray.
While all of these colors look great and add some interest to the Hummer EV’s design, you’ll have to wait for them. The GMC Hummer EV pickup Edition 1 is coming first, and it’s only available in white. Subsequent models should get the full color range. The SUV is only available in Moonshot Green, so if that’s not your thing, you’ll also have to wait for later models. But considering the Edition 1 models are sold out for both the SUV and the truck, having the additional color options could give customers a reason to opt for the lesser models and wait a bit longer for their electric super truck.
