Overland Expo has unveiled its Ultimate Overland Vehicle, using components from 21 different show exhibitors and brand partners using the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4X as a platform. This truck, featuring Multimatic DSSV spool-valve dampers, as well as new springs that increase suspension travel by 1.97 inches (50 millimeters) in front and 0.98 inches (25 millimeters) in the rear.
There’s no need for a traditional bed while overlanding, so the standard unit on the 2022 GMC Sierra AT4X was replaced with a 6.4-foot long tray that holds many exciting things, such as an 8-gallon water tank, storage bins, and a full-length drawer. A 3.0-foot-long “dog box” canopy sits atop the tray, which holds a solar panel feeding the lithium-ion batteries that power an onboard fridge.
For a mandatory roof rack, OE has kitted the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4X out with a massive unit complete with nice foglights, Rigid Adapt XP to be precise. The roof rack also holds the emergency recovery gear such as a jack, axe, recovery board and a shovel, but if you’re really stuck you might have to make use of the onboard GMRS radio, Zoleo satellite communicator, and cell signal booster.
Other than a Magnaflow exhaust system, the powertrain remains the stock 6.2-liter V8 with 420 horsepower and 460 lb.-ft. of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via a 2-speed transfer case and electronically lockable differentials.
Finally, a set of 17-inch wheels wrapped in Firestone Destination M/T2 tires connects truck to dirt, and a special onboard air system allows the driver to air up or air down to the desired pressure for optimum offroad prowess.
Overland Expo says that the vehicle will make appearances at all of the events that it holds around America this year, including Redmond, Oregon; Loveland, Colorado; and Arrington, and Virginia.
Once the truck has completed the show season, it will be auctioned off on Bring a Trailer with 100% of proceeds going to the Overland Expo Foundation charity.
