The 2021 Ram TRX practically defies physics. There’s no reason a pickup weighing 6,350 lbs, more than some houses, has any right to get to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds. That’s what supercars were doing not all too long ago. But if you stuff a 702 hp Hellcat V8 under the hood of most vehicles, it’ll certainly have some impressive acceleration stats. Couple that with a sophisticated launch control system, and FCA has made the seemingly impossible, possible. Still, we haven’t seen how that launch control can possibly rocket such a behemoth from a stop so quickly, until now.

A quick video from the @catchmeoffroad Instagram page has captured the TRX showing off it’s launch control system. Even though it’s in a parking lot, and the truck doesn’t have much room to accelerate, the ferocity of the launch is impressive, and it sounds great leading up to it.

When the driver begins the launch control procedure, the whole truck hunkers down, preparing to unleash that insane hp figure. In just the short run off the line, the truck looks rockets ahead with just a chirp of wheelspin. Given a longer runway, the TRX will cross the quarter mile in 12.9 seconds at 108 mph before hitting a top speed of 118 mph. 0-100 mph comes in an arguably more impressive 10.5 seconds.

But the Ram TRX is certainly not just a fast truck on the roads. It’ll aim to dominate the Ford F-150 Raptor off road, with many off-road hardware and software goodies. It’s coming with trick Bilstein Hawk shocks, 13/14 inches of travel front/rear, 11.8 inches of ground clearance, and eight driving modes. Four of them are off-road specific, none of them are an eco mode.

The 2021 Ram TRX is already available for order, and will hit dealerships later this year. It’s coming with a Launch Edition too, but all 702 Anvil Grey units are already sold out. That’s hardly a surprise with a truck this insanely cool.
