Just like the Dodge Challenger, production of the four-door Charger has come to a close. As we bid the Hemi V8-powered muscle cars farewell, let’s look at the final example of the legendary Dodge Charger, which ended up being a Scat Pack Widebody painted in Destroyer Gray. This beautiful muscle car rolled off the assembly line on Friday, December 22.
The final Dodge Challenger came off the assembly line on the same day, though this was an example of an SRT Demon 170 painted in Pitch Black. In addition, Chrysler built the final 300 sedan on December 20. Dodge first introduced the seventh-generation Charger for the 2011 model year. Since then, the automaker has produced around 1.8 million examples, including several supercharged V8-powered Hellcat variants. They were offering a version of the car for just about anyone.
Dodge Charger: What’s Next?
The Dodge Charger name won’t leave the stage with the imminent release of the electric muscle car dubbed the Charger Daytona. We can also expect to see an internal combustion engine version of the vehicle, using the same architecture and similar design for customers who would prefer to purchase an electric vehicle. This version will likely be powered by the Hurricane Inline-six engine, capable of producing over 500 horsepower. There have been a few leaks lately that showcase what the next-generation Dodge Charger production vehicle could look like, and it’s a modern take on the classic muscle car design we all know and love.
It’s believed that Dodge will first launch a two-door version of the next-generation Charger, followed by a four-door version. We will likely see the debut of the ICE-powered Charger in the coming months, as Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis has stated that the brand will have more products available to customers next year than it did this year with production ending for the Dodge Charger and Challenger, that leaves the brand with just two products available to customers, the Durango, and the Hornet.
