The time is quickly approaching for the production version of the Dodge Charger Daytona to be unveiled, which is set to take place on March 5. A teaser image was recently released with the Charger Daytona shrouded in smoke, a black silhouette placed behind two individuals with the Fratzog logo at the top of the image. The smoke will clear at 11:00 a.m. Eastern time. That’s when Dodge will set a new bar for electrified performance vehicles.
The event can be viewed online through the Dodge website and will feature all the rich details that most of us have speculated about the car. Naturally, Dodge and Ram brand CEO Tim Kuniskis will host the event. That said, not all will be shrouded in smoke until the reveal, as multiple images showcasing a pre-production version of the new Dodge Charger Daytona can give us a pretty good idea of what the car will look like.
2025 Dodge Charger Daytona: What To expect
The 2025 Dodge Charger Daytona is a spitting image of the Banshee concept but has been shaped in a way that makes sense for past production; it’s not as detailed, the front end appears stubbier, and the roofline seems to be more tampered than the concept vehicle. That said, this should all result in a more streamlined product that is significantly cheaper to build than the concept was. The car will retain the valuable liftback design, which is a plus and adds to the vehicle’s usability. Adding to this, the R-wing design does remain on the Charger Daytona, though it’s not as pronounced as it was on the concept, at least from the camera angles where we’ve seen the car, likely due to the shortened proportions.
While the versions of the car we’ve seen so far are with two-door configurations, a four-door option will be made available sometime after the two-door model is released. Power-wise, the vehicle will have several different outputs available to suit customers’ needs, with the most potent Banshee version eclipsing the legendary Hellcat with over 800 horsepower.
It’s unclear if Dodge will mention or discuss the possibility of an ICE car, but it will likely employ the Hurricane inline-six turbo engine. While down on cylinder count, the output alone could keep the Dodge muscle car competitive with the S650 Ford Mustang, but if hybridization is incorporated into the vehicles as well, Ford could have something to worry about.
Set the date. March 5 will be a big event, but if you miss it, MC&T will make like the American Revolution and spill all the tea.
Let me give just a little “CRITIQUE”. The hood on this new car is very BLAH. They could have been a little more creative and atleast done something like on the challengers, etc. I will wait and see if they eventually come out with a WideBody ICE car. If not I will just pass as the last thing I will ever buy is an EV.
