Connecticut’s Callaway Cars has been busy working on something big. Physically. Teased over the weekend, the newly announced Callaway SportTruck Signature Edition is a T1 Chevy Silverado featuring an Eaton TVS R2650 supercharger under the hood as the main party piece. Maximum output is said to be 585 bhp @ 6250 rpm, and 567 lb-ft @ 3850 rpm. It is available exclusively on the 6.2L L87 V8 engine.

While the 6.2L V8 is a requirement for the build, Callaway will install its new SportTruck package on both 2WD and 4×4 Chevrolet Silverado pickup trucks, be it on Trail Boss, LTZ or High Country trim levels.

Order books for the Callaway Silverado Signature Edition are open now, with the package starting at $27,995, before options. The very first Callaway SportTruck supercharged Chevy Silverado will be available for purchase through Dave McDermott Chevrolet Chevrolet in East Haven, CT. It will be based off of a 2021 Silverado High Country Z71 CrewCab, stickering at $62,335. Add the Callaway SportTruck Signature Edition package, and the total asking price is $90,330.

The T1-platform Callaway SportTruck supercharged Chevy Silverado is 50-state emissions compliant and carries both Callaway and GM warranties. That means that the Callaway 3 year/36,000 mile Warranty supplements the GM Bumper-to-Bumper Warranty, which Callaway says is the best warranty coverage of any aftermarket company. Callaway Silverados are assembled in Old Lyme, Connecticut, and Temecula, California.

The front grille design meets both form and function, as the exposed-weave carbon fiber grille bezel allows more airflow to the cooling stack, keeping temps low and consistent. As an option, the bezel may be painted body color. Despite the modifications, the factory front-view camera stays put, and remains fully functional.

Behind the Callaway-branded grille lays a Eaton TVS R2650-based supercharger feeding GM’s tried-and-true 6.2L L87 V8. Callaway says that its latest supercharger offering returns 15% increased displacement while requiring 18% less power input than before. The supercharger is flanked by matte carbon fiber mid-covers to conceal coil packs, engine wiring and plumbing. The covers also serve to suppress valvetrain and fuel injector noise.

All of this force-fed power has to go somewhere, and that’s where the new low-restriction stainless-steel dual-outlet exhaust system comes into play for the T1 Callaway SportTruck. The special exhaust features quad tips, provides ample flow for the newfound power and gives an authoritative acoustic signature without droning resonance inside the cabin. They look oddly familiar to the Borla exhaust tips we sampled on a fully kitted Chevrolet Silverado not too long ago.

Further differentiating this supercharged Chevy Silverado from more standard builds are 20 or 22-inch Callaway lightweight alloy wheels, which reduce rotating inertia compared to standard.

The interior of the T1 Callaway SporTruck Chevrolet Silverado features alcantara-covered steering wheel airbag/horn cover with debossed logos, hard-anodized aluminum door sill panels, and billet accelerator/brake pedal pads. To verify the truck, serialized underhood and interior build authentication plaques are also included to individualize each Signature Edition build.

Muscle Cars & Trucks was founded by Manoli Katakis - an automotive media veteran that has been covering the latest car news since 2009. His journalism has uncovered dozens of major product changes, updates, plans, and cancellations long before automakers were ready to make things official.

Some highlights over the years of his reporting include the uncovering of the Zora trademark before anybody else reported on the coming of a mid-engine Corvette, as well as the dead-accurate reporting of the coming of the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2, two years before it hit the market, and even before the debut of the concept vehicle. This type of reporting has immediately continued here, with reports of the original seventh-generation Camaro plans being shelved, as well as what's in store for the Chevrolet Silverado.

Some of his work can be found on massive automotive media outlets, such as Motor1. He also has been a guest on the 910AM Radio Station with Detroit News auto critic Henry Payne, as well as the enthusiast-oriented Camaro Show podcast.

Over the years, Manoli has interviewed various automotive industry titans, leaders, and people that make things happen otherwise. These include figureheads such as GM CEO Mary Barra, GM President Mark Reuss, automotive aftermarket icon Ken Lingenfelter, Dodge firebrand Tim Kuniskis, along with various chief engineers of vehicles such as the Ford F-150 & Mustang, Chevrolet Camaro & Corvette, and many more.

At MC&T, Manoli is taking his journalism expertise, deeply planted sources, driving abilities, and automotive industry knowledge to new levels, covering more vehicles and brands than ever before. This is the place where you will continue to read groundbreaking stories about American performance vehicles, pickup trucks, and sport utility vehicles. Here is where you’ll also read insights and quotes from various automotive subject matter experts on the latest relevant products, as well as some of the latest official news from their manufacturers.

Fun facts: he also once beat Corvette Racing driver Tommy Milner in an autocross with a Chevrolet Bolt EV. The biggest vehicle he’s ever driven is a John Deere mining truck. Besides a go-kart, the smallest vehicle he’s driven has been a Hyundai i10. He’s also spent time in the cockpit of various American performance vehicle icons, including the fifth-generation Chevrolet Camaro Z/28, Dodge Challenger Demon, and Ford Mustang GT350R. He has reviewed dozens of trucks, SUVs, and performance vehicles over the years.

One of his favorite new vehicles on the market today happens to be the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Bison. He is also a card carrying member of the Sports Car Club of America, and regularly participates in Detroit Region autocross events.
