Last month, Reeves Callaway, founder of Callaway Cars and one of the greatest engineering minds behind upgrading the Corvette, suddenly and tragically passed away. The world lost a legendary man, and it’s no surprise that many wonder what’s next for the company after losing its founder. Luckily, Callaway has a plan as its team in Connecticut, California, and Germany continues demonstrating its commitment to perpetuating the Callaway legacy.
Callaway Cars: Continuing A Legacy
Callaway Cars will continue to pursue the principles that have made the company unique: producing specialty vehicles, providing engineering services, and manufacturing performance products that showcase technological sophistication, artistry in design, and beauty in craftsmanship. Final supercharged C8 Corvette development tasks, manufacturing, and conversions are underway.
To preserve the Callaway legacy, the company will continue hands-on contributions from the company’s entire workforce. That means all Callaway employees are involved with developing the Callaway Supercharged C8 Corvette, as it’s a significant milestone in the company’s evolution and requires various disciplines to make a sports car as excellent as the Corvette worthy of the Callaway marque.
If you didn’t know, all Callaway vehicles are assembled by expert artisans according to stringent engineering specifications. The photo above shows Callaway’s Old Lyme, Connecticut factory, where engineers work alongside technicians to scrutinize and fine-tune assembly procedures on an early Wide Body Package-equipped C8.
If you’re planning to head to Corvettes at Carlisle on August 24-26 in Carlisle PA, be sure to visit the Callaway Cars exhibit and examine Callaway vehicles on display, which includes the new 687 horsepower Callaway Supercharged Corvette in standard and Wide Body configuration. In addition, the annual event will be honoring Reeves Callaway by displaying all three of Callaway’s legendary Le Mans racecars. This includes the silver 1994 Callaway LM #001, a silver 1997 Callaway C7R, and a red, white, and blue 2001 Callaway C12R. There will also be Callaway apparel and performance products on sale at the event. The company will make every effort to present Callway in a fashion that would make Reeves proud.
