With the debut of the 702 horsepower Ram 1500 TRX, FCA has released the new apex predator of the pickup truck segment. The off-roader is purpose built to devour the competition with its hellacious powertrain and loads of upgraded hardware. Head of Ram Brand Mike Koval was the one to introduce the world to the Ram 1500 TRX, during the 26-minute long event held at FCA’s Conner Center in Detroit. FCA is a brand that understands how to respect their performance history, which they did in droves during the Ram TRX reveal. We were treated to a Ram highlight reel of sorts, with the company rolling out two of their most important sporty trucks: a 1978 Dodge Li’l Red Express and the 8.3L V10 powered 2004 Dodge Ram SRT10.
Both of these trucks are performance icons, and set the bar for what the Ram 1500 TRX aims to achieve. The TRX now holds the title as the most powerful, quickest accelerating, and fastest pickup truck on sale from an automaker today. The truck is able to go from 0-60 mph in just 4.5 seconds, and will complete the 1/4 mile in 12.9 seconds at 108 mph. Give the truck a little more room, and it’ll top out at 117 mph.
The Ram 1500 TRX then appears to be exactly what we all hoped a Hellcat-powered pickup would be. We love that FCA is committed to sharing this glorious powertrain with as many buyers as possible, in every segment they can.
