If you haven’t heard, most of the United States got a bit of a winter storm last week, covering communities with snow, plunging temperatures and destroying power girds. And while the situation was very serious and very dire, for Texans in particular, Ford decided to have some fun with the fresh snowfall. On their Twitter page, Ford released a video of their upcoming electric F-150 (rumored to be called the E-150) and Mustang Mach-E sliding around in the snow. With Ford’s future EV plans coming into focus, it’s great to see they still want people to have fun in them.
This isn’t the final electric F-150, as Ford has said deliveries will kick off in 2022, but the rather the prototype vehicle we’ve seen before. It’s based on the outgoing, 13th generation pickup, and this one look like it’s the test mule with off-road parts we saw last fall. The Ford Mustang Mach-E in the video, on the other hand, is just like one you could go buy off the dealership lots. Be prepared for markups at some dealers, though.

Both the Mustang Mach-E and electric F-150 look right at home sliding around on the snow. Both pull some high speed drifts and lower speed spins, and we’d imagine all the people involved have a smile on their face. It’s important that Ford shows their electric offerings can have some fun, as EVs often feel a bit clinical and lack emotion.
Because the Ford Mustang Mach-E has been around for a little while now, and we’ve driven it, the video gets us most excited for the electric F-150, which will likely be called the E-150. It’ll miss the freshman class of electric pickups launching this year, represented by the GMC Hummer EV, Rivian R1T and Tesla Cybertruck (probably). But when the E-150 does eventually come in 2022, it will probably be significantly cheaper than the other vehicles mentioned and more similar to the regular F-150, as it’s aimed at a more mainstream customer.
