It was clear long before the 2021 Ford Bronco debuted that people were going to have high expectations for the SUV. The nameplate is one of the most beloved in Ford’s entire history, with enthusiastic fans spanning literal generations. When a Change.org petition came about asking Ford to offer the Sasquatch package with a manual gearbox, the company listened. Now though, there is another petition regarding the Ford Bronco First Edition.

The Ford Bronco First Edition is the range-topping SUV for 2021, and is limited to just 7,000 units. Hardware like the 2.7L EcoBoost V6, an advanced 4×4 system, and some electronically locking differentials at both ends also make it one of the most capable. Initially buyers had to fight their way through website crashes and system bugs in order to get their hands on one of the reservation slots, proving their dedication to the Icon.

However, this new Change.org petition states that some of these buyers feel as if they were sold a bill of goods. The petition’s writer notes that First Edition buyers thought they were getting something more exclusive than what Ford is actually offering. They are unhappy with being required to have Navy Pier seats in the interior, especially now that it is are available on “lesser” Broncos. Furthermore, these First Edition buyers would like Ford to offer the full list of exterior paint options on the First Edition models as well. Currently the only color choices for are Rapid Red, Area 51, Cactus Gray, Cyber Orange, and the recently added Lightning Blue.

Special edition models tend not to be as configurable as the rest of the lineup, but it is easy to see where these First Edition buyers are coming from. The limited-run Bronco carries an MSRP of $59,305, which makes it the most expensive model by far. If Ford isn’t going to give you much to make the truck exclusive at that price point, why don’t they allow fans to choose how it looks. Considering the success of the last major Change.org petition, perhaps this one also has a chance to make an impact in Dearborn.
